WHO IS JESUS?

A COMPARISON OF THE BIBLE TO MORMON DOCUMENTS

As I stated in last month’s newsletter, the modern Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS) leaders are campaigning, attempting to convince the world they are Christian. The term ‘denomination’ currently being used by LDS leaders is an attempt to convince the world and LDS-followers that they are a parallel group with Christian beliefs. LDS THEOLOGY IS NOT BIBLICAL!

Again, as I stated last month, Christian denominations unite on the basics of the Bible and fundamental Bible truths. The second comparison for evaluating LDS-think is, ‘WHO IS JESUS?’.

The Concerned Christians – NO COMPARISON – booklet demonstrates the differences between Jesus Christ, the promised Messiah of the Bible, compared to Jesus of Mormonism, not equal to God.

Consider These Differences

  1. Bible – Jesus is God (supported by 12 Biblical citations). LDS – Jesus is the Spirit brother of Lucifer (supported by 5 later church leaders, but not in the original formation documents (Book of Mormon, Doctrine and Covenants, Pearl of Great Price [later noted as BM-DC-PGP]).
  2. Bible – Jesus was conceived by the Holy Spirit (supported by 2 scriptures). LDS – Jesus was not conceived by the Holy Spirit (supported by writings of 3 church leaders, but not in BM-DC-PGP).
  3. Bible – Jesus has ALWAYS existed.  He was never CREATED (supported by 4 scriptures).                           LDS – Jesus is our elder brother (supported by 4 writings of leaders, but not in BM-DC-PGP).
  4. Bible – Jesus is the ONLY God and savior of the world (supported by 9 Biblical citations).                           LDS – Jesus is only one of many gods (supported by 3 LDS writings.  Two are church leaders.  One is the Pearl of Great Price).
  5. Bible – Jesus is from everlasting to everlasting.  His existence is eternal (supported by 6 Biblical citations). LDS – Jesus is progressive (supported by one later church leader, but not BM-DC-PGP).
  6. Bible – Jesus is the Christ (Messiah), the savior of the world, who died for all our sins (supported by 5 Biblical citations). LDS – Jesus died ONLY for Adam’s sin (supported by 2 church leaders in 3 separate writings none of which were BM-DC-PGP).

Bible – Jesus is the final sacrifice (supported by 2 primary scriptures as well as others).

These seven differentiations are listed and detailed in NO COMPARISON: the pocket booklet available to you from our warehouse of materials. This is a good tool for Christians, supplying a quick reference for witnessing. It is also a good tool for inquisitive LDS members. They can evaluate differences without being ‘put-on-the-spot’ in debate.

We receive calls weekly from LDS believers who are questioning their faith in the church structure and doctrine. In the past, before the internet, it was unusual for Mormons to question their faith. However, today many are open to reevaluating their beliefs. It is time to be prepared to assist them with their search. Be prepared!

Podcasts – A New Monthly Focus

At Concerned Christians, we are committed to sharing stories of those who are seeking truth. As we leave the LDS organization, many of us struggle to make sense out of our purpose, who God is, and our identity in Christ.

We would like to begin sharing stories of those who are on a faith journey from many sources. Often times, these individuals have not found peace and comfort in the Grace of Christ, yet are pursuing truth in all they do.

Below is one man who grew up in Mesa, Arizona and attended Mountain View High School.

LDS CARE AND SOCIAL GROUP

Our hope at this ministry is to love and support all who have ties to the LDS church. Many of our loved ones attend the LDS church, are raising children in that faith, or we ourselves grew up in the LDS religion and culture. We may have questions about the ever-changing policies and doctrine of the church. We might have friends and neighbors who are LDS and have questions about the information and changes that have recently occurred in the LDS church.

We are rekindling a group that we held regularly in the early 2000s but with renewed focus and leadership. The LDS Care Group is a safe space for both former and current LDS Church members to share, encourage, wrestle, and grow in their Christian faith journeys with others who have similar life experiences, challenges, and culture. Currently, we meet near Dobson & Ray in Chandler. Please email Kristine Nelson at [email protected] if interested. Or call: 480-833-2537

We are early enough in the year for you to begin a Bible reading program. It is never too late. Congrats and Hallelujah if you have! Everyday you will learn more about our totally awesome God!!! If you have the opportunity get involved in a local Bible Study. ASK questions.
