THE CROSS NEWSLETTER JUNE 2022

Concerned Christians

PASSPORT TO HELL

This title is provoking considering the topic. Will you believe in Jesus, or will you believe in Joseph Smith Jr.? I am proposing that one will take you to Heaven, the other will take you elsewhere. (Possibilities being the Celestial, Terrestrial, and Telestial non-Biblical realms of earthly after-life conceived by Joseph Smith through a vision, [Doctrines and Covenants 76]).

One year ago this month, a book, PASSPORT TO HEAVEN, appeared on the market. It was authored by my friend, Micah Wilder. So, my title is a play on words from Micah’s book title. But the important thing for you is understanding the juxtaposition of being a Christian or being LDS (Mormon). They are NOT mutually compatible.

In our March and April newsletters I provided a thumbnail history of Joseph Smith Jr. and the invention of the LDS-system. In the May newsletter I concluded the historical thoughts with A PROPHET – ACCORDING TO GOD, showing that Joseph Smith Jr. did not meet God’s requirements for being a Prophet. If you have not read the March through May articles, please contact me, [email protected] and I will forward you these articles. It is important for you to follow the information and logic.

Knowledgeable former-LDS folks have reported that most new LDS-converts are ‘Christians who do not know what they believe’. Nominal Christians comprise over 80% of the targeted audience which ‘Elder Missionaries’ are seeking. These Missionaries are primarily young men (some young women). They have been well trained for their mission. If you read Micah’s book, listed above, you will see he and his associates were well prepared and fervent about bringing their message to YOU. YOU are their target if you do not know God’s Word.

Their message is based on the emphasis of LDS visual lifestyle, families, community, and friends. It all appears so nice and fulfilling. Also, your own personal, subjective inner- emotional feelings are appealed to for confirmation (the burning in the bosom). Although the Bible is included in the LDS collection of foundational beliefs, it is seldom referred to. It is tacitly dismissed because of supposed potential translation issues. It is only included in the ‘LDS Quad’ as a bridge to ‘the new revelation’. However, within the Book of Mormon (the new revelation) there are 159 New Testament references, which put the potential recruit at ease, because it sounds so much like what they have heard from the pulpit.

The Bible speaks to the issue of feelings/emotions. This is where the LDS presentation begins. The young missionary zealots work hard knocking on doors or following up referrals until the find YOU. If YOU have emotionally disturbing events happening in your life and do not know God’s Word well, then they have probably found their next convert. They will appeal to your emotion, not your knowledge.

The Bible states the following about following emotions.

Jeremiah 17:9. The heart is deceitful above all things and beyond cure. Who can understand it?

Proverbs 14:12. There is a way that appears to be right, but in the end, it leads to death.

Proverbs 19:2. Desire without knowledge is not good—how much more will hasty feet miss the way.

Regarding knowledge Scriptures give other insight.

Isaiah 5:13. Therefore my people will go into exile for lack of understanding.

Proverbs 15:14. The discerning heart seeks knowledge, but the mouth of a fool feeds on folly.

Acts 17:11. Now the Berean Jews were of more noble character than those in Thessalonica, for they received the message with great eagerness and examined the Scriptures every day to see if what Paul said was true.

The bottom line, emotions will take you down the wrong path. Searching for Biblical understanding will keep your path headed the correct direction.

If YOU are the potential new LDS-convert, I challenge you to begin your journey into God’s saving Word. I highly recommend The Daily Bible In Chronological Order available from Harvest House Publishers. We will supply you with one or you may order with Amazon. This Bible will assist you in reading all of God’s Word in one year. If you choose to do this, I will assist you if you request.

In January 2020 I was contacted by an individual who needed Christian input into a professional situation. Two colleagues who were LDS-believers and close working associates, were also family friends when not at work. The potential for being pressured to join these friends in their LDS-faith was anticipated.

The Daily Bible was immediately shipped to this friend. The reading began in diligence. Because this person took the time to gain Biblical knowledge, the potential recruiting was averted. This friend informed me there have been two trips through the Bible and working on the third. In the meantime, family members have been actively recruited to also read through the Bible in one year. Reading through God’s Word is like vaccinating yourself against spiritual deception.

DO NOT SPEND ANOTHER DAY WITHOUT PREPARING YOURSELF. You do not want to earn your PASSPORT TO HELL. Contact us! We are here for YOU!

Gary Keating

A Revealing Quotation About Joseph Smith Jr.

Shawn McCraney, a former-Mormon sage and author, stated in his book I Was a Born-Again Mormon, on page 210:

The greatest disservice Joseph Smith did to members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints . . . was his subtle attack on the authority and authenticity of the Bible. This act has led hundreds of thousands of innocent people to distrust and even mock the holy Word of God.

Just maybe your life is flooded with fear and anxiety because you have forgotten what the Bible says. If this is true for you it’s time to start getting into the Word again.
Recently my husband and I took the opportunity to watch “Keep Sweet: Pray and Obey” on Netflix. It is a fascinating four part story of Warren Jeffs, the Fundamentalist Church of Latter-Day Saints cult leader. They are a closed society currently living in Short Creek, Hilldale and Colorado City. Warren still controls the group even though he is in prison in Texas. He still dictates who will marry who. He requires women to wear prairie dresses and to let their hair grow to be braided in lots of beautiful styles. They believe in continuous revelation only through the living prophet. Before being taken to prison Warren had 78 wives, 24 were underage. They still use the Book of Mormon and the Bible. They claim Joseph Smith, Brigham Young and John Taylor as prophets. When Wilford Woodruff became the prophet and denounced pologamy so that Utah could become a state there was a great divide and many left the group. They had many names but are currently FLDS and still openly practice pologamy. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints do not openly practice but pologamy will still be a part of the Celestial Kingdom. In their own private schools FLDS children are taught that Warren Jeffs is President of the United States. These facts were taken from the series. There have been changes since this filming. I could go on but I urge you to watch this series.Paulette
