GOD’S PRONOUNCEMENTS AND FULFILLMENTS
Over the years I have made it a practice to read through the Bible. This has helped me understand God and His plan for His Creation. He reveals in Genesis that Creation was a designed plan. Mankind, the epitome of His Creation, was deliberately engineered, designed and created ‘after their kind’. Every different thing in Creation was built ‘after their/its kind’.
The Creation was a fixed beginning of history. Once the Earth and all its contents were finished the dimension of time was introduced. Since the beginning of Creation, God planned for an ‘End’. That is the ‘End Times’? There are many who think we are on the threshold. Maybe we are and maybe not.
Because of our worldwide health conditions and local United States politics, many people are living in fear. Some fear their potential death from COVID-19. Others are fearing totalitarian control from our US government. I have had friends who have placed warnings of imminent doom on Facebook with their own remedy to the upcoming situation. For some, fear is now controlling their lives. Should I wear a mask? Should I be vaccinated? Should I stay in my home and avoid public contact of any kind? Should I buy weapons? Should I move to the wilderness? Should I stockpile food and goods?
Is fear controlling your life a little or a lot? I am going to offer my personal evaluation after reading God’s Word frequently.
First, I believe God has always had a definite ‘start to finish’ plan for His Creation. As His Word develops, He allows us numerous insights about the ‘finish’. Sometimes they seem conflicting.
Second, God enters into various Covenants with His Creation:
With Adam and Eve, be fruitful and multiply.
With Noah he cleanses the earth allowing Noah and family to repopulate.
With Abraham, God demonstrates ‘Faith’ with covenant.
With Moses, God provides an extensive Covenant with The Children of Israel. This Covenant continues until the New Covenant.
With His Son, Jesus, He provides direct connection to Him with every person on Earth.
During these Covenants God provides announcements for the present and sometimes predictions for the future.
With Adam and Eve, He spoke directly to them for the benefit of the Earth.
With Noah, He spoke directly to him, Noah, for the benefit of the Earth.
With Abraham, He speaks directly to him for the demonstration of Godly trust, the demonstration of trusting God in all decisions.
With Moses, God speaks to him and provides rules for life. These rules govern God’s chosen families with blessings or consequences depending upon personal actions.
With Jesus, God spoke through Old Testament Prophets predicting His future. He also spoke through John the Baptist with a divine, heavenly presentation.
God predicts the end of His Covenant with Moses when He predicts the exile of His chosen people. He does this in Isaiah 45:1 when he foretells the future existence of Cyrus a Gentile ruler who will take care of the Israelites while in exile. This will move the world from the Old Covenant to the New Covenant.
The New Covenant unfolds with the scene surrounding John the Baptist’s parents and a miraculous conception with Mary, the mother of Jesus.
During all this historic progression God reveals His Earthly plan, a-step-at-a-time. He also provides veiled information hinting about the end-of-time.
So where am I leading with all of this? It has never been revealed exactly when time will end. There seems to be an urge in mankind to predict the future. There is a current wave predicting end times are upon us. The COVID-19 virus has generated fear worldwide. Hence, the end-of-the-world fear.
This same fear swept through the American Christian frontier as settlers moved west and occupied new land. It was a very fluid time in our ancestors’ lives. It brought about new thoughts about Jesus’ return. Many of our current religious cults arose from 1800 to 1920 because of the end-time fears. Predictions of dooms-day dates were common. One young lad even invented his own religion.
Now, here we are 100 years later, and the predictions are being heard. Jesus encourages each of us to be prepared, we do not know the time when He will return. If we live knowing today or tomorrow Jesus will arrive, we have nothing to fear. BE AT PEACE AND TRUST JESUS!!

Mormon Happenings
Bradley R. Wilcox, second counselor in the Young Men general presidency spoke during an Ensign College devotional this October 12th. He explained how “YOLO” – “You Only Live Once” – has become a popular phrase in today’s culture. He claims it is not in the scriptures. Remember when he says scriptures he refers to the Book of Mormon, Doctrine & Covenants, and The Pearl of Great Price. He quotes 2 Nephi 28:7, 26. and from Alma 34:32-33. These verses urge people not to wait until the spirit world to repent. Why?? Because the same spirit that possess your body at death has the power to possess your body in the eternal world. These verses are not speaking of the Holy Spirit. Wilcox says the opportunity for repentance doesn’t bring a change of heart. He says that only comes from Jesus Christ and His Atonement. Remember the LDS believe His atonement was in the Garden of Gethsemane and not on the cross. “I believe that none of us can conceive the full import of what Christ did for us in Gethsemane, but I am grateful every day of my life for His atoning sacrifice in our behalf.”
Thomas S. Monson (closing remarks at the April, 2011 General Conference) Taken from an article by Sidney Walker writer for the Salt Lake Tribune, October 12, 2021.
However, it is clearly stated in the Bible, 2Corinthians 5:8 “We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.” We really only do live once.
